I have a question about Alfafa Tea.

How long will it be usable after it is made. Can it sit around in a 5 gallon can and used as needed to water potted plants, etc until it is gone or does it have a "usable life" of so many days?

Another problem with question. I'm having trouble finding natural gardening products in this area. Can anyone help me out?

Treat alfalfa tea like any other biostimulant. Use it as a soil drench.

If any high protein or high carbohydrate tea is non-aerated, always use it very diluted, and only use it as a soil drench, unless you feel absolutely safe and sure, that it's ok to use it as a foliar application.

However any form of aerated tea recipe, is so rich in good aerobic, disease fighting, and nutrient buffering, and nutrient balancing microbes, that it is ok to use it whenever and on whatever, as both a diluted foliar or soil drench.

Faye, aren't you west of I35, not too far from Hillsboro? I'm not sure just how far it is from you, but Sam's Nursery handles organics. Go through Hubbard on Hwy 171. It's a couple of miles out. Tell Karen I recommended them to you. She has a 10% discount for "over 65." This may or may not affect you.

Also, there are some things she'll discount if you buy a larger quantity.

Patkin, Thanks for your reply. Since I made my post , I have found a nursery just a few miles south of Killeen on Old FM 440 RD which carries organics. The next time I'm over there, I'm going to ask the lady what "Pflanzen" means.

So now I know! I will use the alfalfa tea on my "Grandma's Garden Plants" and hope they will grow and blossom.

Today I purchased some alfalfa pellets at my local feed store (they told it was going to be alfalfa meal but it turned out to be pellets).

Will they break down and work as well as alfalfa meal or did I waste my money?

I put 4 or 5 pellets in about a cup of water to see what might happen and they broke apart and blended with the water pretty well with some settlement at the bottom.

Any thoughts?
