Cleaning out some of my old email files I found this. The anti-organic pressure is even greater here in the DFW area.
I took my first class this week in the Bexar County Master Gardener class. We were told that as Master Gardeners we can only recommend practices that are scientifically verifiable. We were told that use of corn meal to control brown patch in the lawn and black spot in the roses is not supported by scientific evidence -- that it is hit and miss. Therefore we cannot recommend its use. My wife and I have been using organic gardening techniques for two years. Ever since we used the corn meal on our lawn we have never had any brown patch.
