I have a number of Wax Myrtles in my back yard and I'm trying to figure out how I might avoid or at least minimize the damage ice can cause. I'm singling these trees out because they are still covered with foliage and therefore have more surface area to collect freezing rain.
Any ideas are much appreciated.

I wish I had some advice for this possible smashing of trees. I'm holding my breath. The conditions are ripe for a real mess. The big bay in my back yard is in the crosshairs of this storm. I'll let you know tomorrow.
