Kathe, Nadine, Greg and anyone else interested in a road trip to a neat little country church with lots of history and an old cemetery.
What weekend in April works the best for everyone?
Cliff wants to plant some trees I think. It wouldn't hurt either to rescue some of the trees that are a little low and at least one with a cement collar around the base. Time to work out aggression with a sledge hammer?
Let me know....
In Dirt,
Pam

I think I can do this the 2nd weekend of April, but am not sure at this time. I will get back with you ASAP! Sure, I'd like to carpool with you, Greg! With Kathe, too!
Thanks,
Nadine

Nice to meet another Hubbardite!! The church is Salem Lutheran Church just north of Malone. You can get there from HWY 171 or FM 308. Look for the white signs.
I'll PM you to talk more about Hubbard.
Pam

Looking forward to meeting and working with you pakin. Pam has asked for a beautiful day with no rain. The last two trips we all had a great time. Looking forward to see the improvement in the cementery since the first trip last year. Any body else interested in joining the trip to Malone? We
invite all, and it's not far from the metroplex.

Pamzilla,
Would you please post the directions to the church again, including the closest mile marker, of where to turn off I-35, for anyone who is thinking about driving down. Maybe we can get some more interested people to help with the project.
Also, is there anything, you can think of, that we should bring? I am bring the sledge hammer.

As far as equipment goes for now there is a short list. A sledge hammer from Greg should do for that. Also spades would be good too. We may do more planting. What tools are helpful for digging out too deep trees? Are air spades rentable?
So I just drove through the cemetery and the spring weeds are way better this year. I think the continuous mowing has taken away some of the tall weeds and grasses. I expect the trees will look great since this will be their third and fourth year in the ground. Finding the tree flair will help too.

Take I-35 south to Hillsboro. Exit #368-A and go left over bridge. About a mile later Hwy 22 splits to the left. Stay right on Hwy 171 through Bynum. A few miles after Bynum and white sign will be on the left for Salem Lutheran Church. Take that gravel road 2-3 miles to the church. If you've found Malone you are too far.
The church's number is 254-533-2330
