My sumac is about 2 years old. This spring the new growth came in very small and deformed looking with hard, long, thin green lumps. The plant appears to be healthy overall, but is this cosmetic or a disease that needs treating?

Have you tried the pest/disease forum?
Aromatic Sumac is a good choice for the DFW area, (I can not tell where it is that you live - it would help to know) is it getting too much water perhaps?
Have you been using the basic organic program?
