Has anyone found a good variety of artichoke to grow in South Texas? I tried Green Globe in San Antonio with limited success a few years ago. We now live out east of town. I have seen a variety called Texas Hill mentioned. Any idea where to get plants or seeds?
I did a search on the Texas Hill myself but could not find anyone that had the plants in stock. We settled on the Green Globe and the plant is doing well but I don't know if it'll make it thru the hot summer. Any special tips you can give me for the Green Globe?
Not really, we started from seed, they made it throught the summer as I remember and and we got a couple of small chokes. They had partial shade which probably didn't help. they eventually died, not sure why. Sorry I was not more help.
We 're expecting!! I discovered our first little artichoke yesterday. I certainly was not anticipating one this early but thanks to the rain and "milder" temps we have success. Here's our first pic of our little one...
