I know, Iknow. I have been a little out of touch! First, lets start with the successes. Black-eyed peas grow very well in black clay soil. At least here they do! This is the first crop out there that is actually growing like it should. We will begin picking today. Six seventy foot rowws should yeild us a nice batch of peas. Pumpkins are up and growing being planted July 5th so hopefully we will have some pumpkins for the fall. Should begin picking okra soon as well. My tomatoes and peppers are hanging in there and I feel certain that this fall I will have a bumper crop. I planted sweet potatoe slips for the first time in my life. They are growing but I have some kind of critter (I suspect little bunnies!) that find them very tasty. We are getting ready to start some fall green beans and we are harvesting a handful of squash and cucumbers.
I am always talking about having patience, and to keep working at it and good things will happen. Well, its happening, slowly but surely. Lots and lots of compost!
