I have about 24 red cedar trees. What I thought were harmless cocoons on the foliage. Turns out...after the trees went from perfect to mass loss of greenery. BAGWORMS...have unleashed a fury on my trees. I am spraying BT. Sprayed orange oil and garrett juice. One or Two of my trees have complete loss of greenery! Are these going to make it? What are my chances of saving these things from the BAGWORMs. Are they always this quick to destroy the trees??????
We have one small cedar bush that is being walloped as well - a little over a quart a day of bagworms are being pulled off every day , and I'll just forward these links to you - maybe there is additional information that you may find helpful (especially on life cycles).
I sprayed BT on all the trees. There is no way I can physically remove all the pods, to many of them. I will spray again next week. Looks like I need to release wasps, next year. The wasps from my readings seem to keep all this in check! I just hope I caught this before I loose a tree!!!!!
