Does anyone know why the bloom stalks of my iris are so short
the bloom has trouble opening?
They are in good sun. They've had molasses, cornmeal, compost, &
bonemeal.
Any suggestions?
Thanx

The only thing I've noticed with mine is that the ones in full sun have shorter stalks. My best ones are in a sun & shade area. Maybe your plants received too many goodies at one time?? Iris usually don't need a whole lot of amendments to do well. Some of the products you applied won't benefit the blooms till next season. By the way, use soft rock phosphate instead of bone meal. It is much cheaper & works better.
