From what I understand, the best thing to do when using corn gluten meal as a pre-emergent is to put down about 20 pounds per 1000 square feet around the 15th of February then another 10-15 pounds per 1000 square feet a month later. If you must wait, you must wait, but do not expect to knock them all out. Sometimes, depending upon the weather, you fertilize the weeds that have already germinated.
What weeds do you speak of? A weed is just a plant out of place....
Weeds have a purpose, whether we like it or not.
