Corn meal vs corn meal

Could someone tell me what is the difference between horticultural corn meal and plain old corn meal in my kitchen.

It is more effective in fungal control and it is better for the soil. It is also much more economical to use. I recommend the Alliance brand. I am familiar with the company and I trust their product. Besides, the Dirt Doctor's seal of approval is on the bag! :wink:

I can now see that it works better for those garden things; but what is
done to corn meal to make it horticultural corn meal; or is it visa versa?

I believe the food grade corn meal is kept under environmental conditions so that it will not grow any molds during storage. I could be wrong. I do know there are some very poisonous molds that grow on stored grain. Horticultural grade would not need that kind of protection.

The kind of mold horticultural cornmeal might grow during storage is not a concern when using it as a fertilizer. Just don't eat it.

So, it seems that if I wanted to get rid of the fungus that is growing under
my big toe nail I could use plain old ordinary corn meal; don't have to
use horticultural corn meal???

Use HORTICULTURAL or WHOLE GROUND cornmeal. Whole ground should work better, you can use less & it feels better on the feet. Don't use any old cornmeal such as the stuff in the grocery store. There is a difference. I don't recall the exact difference but the info. is somewhere on this web site or discussion board. Maybe someone else remembers?
