Howard,
I hit a tree with my truck and there are two - three inch by two inch open areas. I haven't done anything to the tree yet, but I'm wondering what if anything to do. P.S. This tree is a volunteer, I don't know what kind it is, and it's right by the driveway.

Hi Martha, welcome to this web site & discussion board! 1st: try to post on the forum that might best answer your questions. You will get quicker responses (hopefully). The link below is probably where your post belongs.
Tree Trunk Goop Mix 1/3 of each in water and paint on trunks: Diatomaceous earth, soft rock phosphate, manure compost. Paint onto cuts, borer holes or other injuries on trunks or limbs. Reapply if washed off by rain or irrigation.
