Hello, I have a patch of St. Augustine that looks dead to me. I am not sure what to do at this point. Can I overseed with St. Augustine or do I need to cut this patch out and re-sod? (You can see the only thing growing/green are the few weeds!)

I have been fertilizing with Soy Bean Meal, watering deeply once per week, and mowing on a low level.

I am sorry you are having problems with your St. Augustine!

SA does not come in seed form. So if you wanted to replace an area, it would have to be sod.

Infrequent, deep root watering to good.
Mowing on a low level is bad. You should set your mower on the highest level.

I am thinking there might be some other Organic products you could use.

When I became Organic a year ago I started with:
Texas Green Sand
Molasses
Calloways Organic Fertilizer (There are others. That was my choice. Texas Tee is mentioned a lot on this forum). I fertilize 4 times a year.

I also like 'Thrive.' I use the one for 'Turf.' It is a root stimulator.

I use Corn Gluten Meal for my pre-emergent-
(also is a fertilizer)
If you have a fungus-Corn Meal
(also is a fertilizer)

I am not saying Soy Bean Meal is not good. I do use it as an additive to my soil. I just think you might need to add more.

Have you gone to the Home page and researched 'The Article Library?' Howard Garrett has provided us with great info on EVERYTHING!

Plus, the posts in the Lawn Forum also has some good suggestions.

Please note....I am new at this. This is just some things that I have read about and tried.

The first thing I need to figure out I think is if i have Bermuda or St. Augustine? I just came to the conclusion that I might have Bermuda?

Can anyone tell from the pics? I am new to this area and the different grass types.
