OK, I don't want to chip 8" thick logs but I would absolutely love a light duty shredder that would eat things like rose branches, hedge trimmings and maybe a little cardboard - or clumps of too-big compost particles that I want smaller to increase surface area.
Don't want an $800 deal with a bass boat motor, frankly something electric would do quite nicely.... using the mower and alleged shredder vac is not sufficient.
Anyone making something like this??? Sufficient to grind up say...1/4 thick branches, leaves, clumps of horsedoodoo and woodchips????

Any ole lawn mower and a stationary hard wall, is a great start for shredding small limbs and leaves. Then you can rake the shredded stuff into your compost pile.

That's kinda what i do now but wind up with lots of debris flying around and rose thorns in the section of grass along the driveway I use for choppin....
Any idea if anyone makes something that grinds/shreds light branches, leaves etc??? the big multi-HP gas ones seem like overkill for light duty and the mower is kinda coarse and throws debris kinda dangerously.
lol, maybe i should shut up about this idea and go build one to market.
For shredding leaves from my yard for the compost pile, I use a black and decker leaf blower. It's attachments can be reassembled to with a nozzle to suck leaves, paper, small sticks and shread them into small particles. The particles are deposited in a carry bag. I use it to gather up large amounts of leaves without having to bag.
One caveat: It takes some patience with the leaves. Going too fast clogs the vacuum system.
It cost about $75 over six years ago. Still going strong.

I found another little shredder for you. Harbor Freight has a 2 HP model for $199.99, regular $149.99. It is in the sale I received today. I am including the URL to look at. I don't know where you live, but if it is DFW, there is two stores. Look up item number 41098
Thanks Greg, you have found my birthday present... my fiance will hate you but I love ya!!! This one looks like exactly what i need. Let me know how it works when you get done surreptitiously stealing branches from the neighbors!!!
