I've noticed in the past that in the summer watering with city water (Krum) will usually keep our plants alive but they don't grow much and the veggies don't put on new fruit.

My test kit only goes up to 8 and the water PH is above that. Is this really a problem and is there something that can be done about it. It's probably high in chlorimine too.

I have learned that city water pH is normally above 7.0 on purpose, because they develop it that way for the customers, because it simply "tastes better" to humans, but is not that great for most plants!

Using good compost and compost tea recipes regularly around and all over your plants is a smart way to overcome this issue. The beneficial soil microbes and balanced levels of calcium and sulfur in compost humates help regulate soil pH.
