So gang, anyone got trees turning yet?

I'm afraid it's not going to be a great year for it, since we don't seem to be having the clear days and cool nights to trigger a really good change.

Sadly, my red oaks are turning brown - no color at all. I have noticed the ashes turning a bit, and the eastern persimmon is turning a nice yellow.

I also have noticed some nice color on the "wild" bradford pears in undeveloped fields.

My Birch is starting to yellow shift a bit. The Ash is still just holding its own. My Red Oak is still fully dark green. The Willow out back is going yellow and dropping. My tiny young Alder Tree is still green.

My Rowans didn't make the Summer, but I will try them again next year.

I just checked the extended forecast on weather.com and it calls for lows in the 40's beginning Nov 2 through Nov 8.
As long as the cold front doesn't leave us too cloudy, we might still get some good color.

Here's hoping.

We have a number of bright days and cold nights ahead right now. Hope it's not too late.

My gingko is showing a little yellow on the tips of the leaves-I'll report when it's all out. (It's prettier than HG's)

Uh oh, hear that, Howard? Sounds like a challenge to me.....

Not sure if anyone is interested in what is going on in Floriduh but it's not so great.

I had a couple of small 1 foot tupelo black gums. They turned already. Up close the leaves looked orange but when you take 10 steps back they looked a nice deep red. They didn't have many leaves to start out with but it lasted about a week to a week and a half.

My red maples are all turning now, but's an inconsistent change. In other words, the leaves are turning then falling off before the rest of them can turn. These are small trees so it's not so breath taking. The color is orange, not red. The leaves are simply blowing away and not piling up for me to play in.

Everything that I had in pots dropped leaves already except one. Everything else and all the same trees that are large mature trees in my area are still fully green with no sign of wanting to change.

I sure hope my Ginkgo lives up to my bragging this year! In the past, people have knocked on our door & asked if they could take pictures. One family dressed up their 3 kids & had professional shots taken. A man who evidently drives this way to work stopped and gave us an 8 X 10 he took of it a couple years ago. Today it's really beginning to turn so I'm hoping it will be all 'out' by T'sgiving. Anyone who wants to check it out, we are just 1 short block north of Parker & Roundrock (Plano)-you can see the tree on our corner from there.

If it's prettier than mine, I've got to see it!

I bet my tree will be at it's best on Thanksgiving & I'd invite EVERYONE but I want some turkey leftovers. Y'all are welcome to drive by &/or stop in for a cool one.

I know just about everyone hates the tallow trees but the ones we have are the prettiest I have ever seen them be. All orange gold red and yellow. Think we will keep them after all.

I have noticed that the Chinese Pistache trees are turning quite nicely. Many other trees aren't doing such a great show this year.
