Recent flooding covered the garden for 2 days. The plants looked good until the water went down and then the peppers, tomatoes and green beans died. Black-eyed peas, okra and egg plant still look great. Is it possible to cut back and revive the injured plants or should I replant for fall?

Joe, I had the same problem. Everything is doing pretty well except for the pepper plants. They have wilted and probably will die. They were doing so good and looked real healthy. I was able to get just two peppers off of the plants. Wonder why it affected only the pepper plants and not the tomatoes? We could have done with alot less rain. I was thinking about replanting the peppers but I can not find any in the stores. I guess I will wait and replant them for a fall garden.

If it were me, I would take care of the drainage problem before planting anything else. Have you thought of installing a french drain? How about raised beds? You could plant cover crops to help loosen the soil. Some plants have deep roots and are good at breaking up the subsoil. Make sure no soil remains bare.
