Does anyone know how well garlic grows in the Houston area?

I've got some that I sprouted in a pot for right now. I'm planning on transplanting to a raised bed this week some time. I'm not sure how successful this will be, but I guess there is only one way to find out.
Keep in mind that garlic is a cool weather crop, so as Sandih said, fall through spring. Be sure however that it has good drainage and does not rot in the ground as a result of our soggy wet winters.
