hi ya'll. has anyone every approached a grocery store about collecting their fruits and veggies that they would normally throw away and asking if you can pick them up for your compost pile? i'm just wondering what they do with all that stuff?

Living in Texas I'm sure you're familiar with H-E-B. One of their attorneys is a friend of mine. I'm pretty sure you don't need to ask them. They have their reasons for not handing it out. Some of the larger composters might have contracts to take the stuff off their hands, but us small guys ain't getting any.

I believe it has to do with the fact that if they did it and you ate it and got sick you could sue them for millions for being so irresponsible as to let someone compost the old stuff and try to do the right thing. No good deed can go unlitigated when there are two many lawyers and not enough ambulances to chase. To the attorneys who do not do this sort of thing no offense - you probably know better than we do how the few sleazeballs give the others a bad name.
Blame that one on the type of attorney's who take that kind of case....
You might check to see whether composting ambulance chasers is legal in your area - can you find 12 people in your town who would REALLY convict????
