Glad to find this site and hope I can learn and contribute! My husband and I live in Nicaragua and grow some of our own veggies like tomatoes, okra, asparagus beans, carrots, radishes, sweet corn and peppers. We have a large compost pile using dirt "recycled" by leaf cutter ants, bedding from our Muscovy duck pens and kitchen scraps (LOTS of kitchen scraps as I'm always in the kitchen playing!). We've got a year round growing season here, but that means year round, very persistent bugs also. I'm not totally organic, but have made huge steps toward that goal by experimenting with local medicinal plants. Looking forward to exploring this site and forum! Melissa

Hola Nica, I've just joined this site today but have pursued organic gardening for almost 50 years here in Vermont. In June I retired from 36 years of teaching biology and over the past 15 years, I took many high school student groups to Costa Rica. I've only spent a couple of days in Nicaragua but I have always envied those wonderful growing seasons you have in Central America. Pura vida dave
