Like to find a source for good bulk compost in Houston (preferably NW.)

Search this forum for "Houston." Back when Howard started this forum I started threads where people could write in and tell us where they buy their stuff. I made them Stickies so they would always live at the top of the forum. Then someone with more clout came along a couple years ago and released them from Stickiehood. Now they are adrift among the rest of the messages. Good luck finding them but your answer is in there.

Nature's Way Resources in Conroe, Texas makes the premium compost in our area. It's pricy but you absolutely get what you pay for --not that cheap stuff they put boiler ash in to make it look black -- this is the real deal. John Ferguson is the owner -- go to his website and check out his credentials and all the fact sheets he offers on the site. (And if you ever see him featured as a speaker at a program, go.) He sells 40 lb. bags around town. I buy it at Berings Hardware and some of the Ace Hardware stores. On your side of town, go to Arbor Gate or Plants for All Seasons. To buy it in bulk, take your truck up to his place of business.
