I've recently moved to Ok. In Howards book he recommended scrapping off top 2 inches of soil (to removed weeds and grasses for gardens) and then to replace it with same kind of soil underneath. Well I have black clay that have crawfish in the soil, apprently the worst soil around. What should I replace the 2 inches with? I plan on using lava sand, compost to till in with the replaced soil. I thought about first using regular sand in the underling soil before I did the amendments since I have about 1 acre of land that I want to convert to something that will grow things.
I've talked to people and they said the only way to get rid of the crawfish was to move, well that is not an option. I need help!!
