Last year I transplanted some old yellow iris from a farm near Quitman in northeast texas to my home garden in McKinney. The plants are large and healthy, but all the blooms are lavender, not yellow. Is this a factor of soil acidity, what soil content is recommended, and can the color be reversed?
I had the same thing happen to me except different colors. I transplanted some light purple irises from a vacant lot in town to my home which has slightly more acidic soil, and they have bloomed white ever since. I've never heard of this before, I'm glad to hear it's happened to someone besides me! I have no clue as to why, unless as you say it's the pH of the soil. I just got a whole boxfull from Pamzilla; I hope they don't all bloom white!!!!
