Post subject: is it bamboo ? how do i get rid of it

please help i have these in my back yard. they grow over 20ft tall i assume there bamboo. there green with a feathery white top. how can i get rid of them fast and forever.

It would be helpful to have a picture. According to HG's radio show, if it is bamboo you need to cut it down to the ground. Then when you get new growth, cut it down too. Keep doing this and you will use up the plants stored energy which will eventually kill it.
