I have a rather large Live oak that has many sprouts all under it. I thought it was just acorns sprouts, but it appears to be coming from some roots just under the surface. How do i get rid ot these sprouts? I have cut them short several times, sprayed with vinegar,
The reason they're hard to pull is because they're attached to the tree's roots. The reason some oak trees produce prodigious numbers of suckers while others don't produce any is still a mystery. Unfortunately, controlling root sprouts will be an ongoing, but ultimately futile task. Most people simply mow them regularly to keep them under control.
