I own some property in Waco. This plot of land is 0.97 acres. Since I was a young girl (I'm now 49) this plot had a small house and at least a half acre garden. It's sandy loam soil near the Brazos river and, as I rememeber, raised many vegetables. We bulldosed the house 3 years ago and now it's just a lot. I was interested in getting with an association that would want to garden it organically for a shelter or food bank, OR an organic gardener that would want to rent (very cheap) the land to garden. At this time the land just sits there and it is an incovenience to mow it during the summer. I'd like to help someone else while helping myself.

try sending a note to the TOGA (Texas Organic Growers Association) folks. They may have a lead on someone trying to get started. Let me know if you can't find them.
