Can anyone please tell me if Louisiana Phlox will grow in Dallas, and if so where can I find some. I remember my mother grew them in her garden when I was a small child. It spead like wildfire and looked great. Any help is much appreciated!

code 3,
I discovered a phlox in our garden at a farm we purchased awhile back--was just unbelievable in beauty and smell. Researched and finally came up with the name and thought you might want to check it out:
Not sure how it would do in Dallas, but would be easy enough to ask local nursery people. It has frozen back two winters to always return beautifully in the spring --and spreads. I am anxiously awaiting their blooms this year. - Susan

Yes, Louisiana Phlox will grow in North Texas...I dug some up a couple of years ago on Country Club road in Fairview (that's in Collin County, near the Heard Museum) and it spread just fine at my home in McKinney. I had it in a spot where it didn't get any direct west sun, but it got plenty in the ditch where I found it. I have seen it in catalogues and in nurseries in East Texas, for sale. Watch for it in the spring, alongside the roads, if you can't find it sooner. I'll be glad to tell you where I found it, if you want.
