Dr. Bob, what do you do with your Lowline heifers? Ours are the daughters of our registered Lowline bull, and we don't want to increase our herd. So we have a dilemma.

So far I have not had any I want to sell, but hope
to in the next year or so. You need to advertise to
sell or look at quality and see if some of them should
become steaks. If you have grass fed without chemicals
you should be able to get $3.00 per pound on the
rail + the buyer pays the kill fee and cutting and wrapping.
Another choice is to keep the best and breed back to the
sire and get rid of momma. One time back to dad will
not hurt anything. The best bull we had before we
started with Lowlines was inbred and his babies
were wonderful - if the baby is not a keeper or
breeder then eat them.
