I have a landscaper who is telling me that a female live oak tree will drop less nuts (no punn intended), than the male live oak. I have called local nurseries and nobody has heard of such a thing. Need help on this question due to my lack of training.

Live oaks are monoecious, a term that means "one house." Both s-e-x (silly filtering software!) flowers are found on the one plant. If your gardener was talking about nandina or any of the holly trees or shrubs, he or she would be correct, they are dioecious (two houses). But not the oaks.

Here is a link to a place with a lot of those botanical definitions. It is from the Texas Forest Service and Texas A&M University.
