I got a chance to visit my uncle in Calif. He has been a Rice Farmer for many years. He is going to try something different this year. He is going to use a product called Monty's Fertilizer. http://www.montysplantfood.com/docs/fert_program.htm I cannot tell if this is a good product. It sounds ok, but need some more information. can ya'll look at this and let me know your thoughts.
I don't like it and kinda smell a rat. His web site says sustainable agriculture and his literature reads an organic label.
Here are my two clues:
1. The NPK ratios are 4-15-12, 8-16-8, and 2-15-15. All organic fertilizers have a combined NPK of around 12-15, or less.
2. I looked at the Material Safety Data Sheet. Again, most organic fertilizers are listed as GRAS (generally regarded as safe) This is not and warns of amonia gas which implies a chemical orgin.
If you don't want to use this ask someone like Captain Compost what kinds of materials might be available to your uncle that are stocked at most feed stores.
