When's the best time of year to move perennials and do you have any special tips for moving them? I need to rearrange some salvias-- leucantha and guarantica--due to their size. Thanks!

Hi Bee Bzz,

Fall is the best time to divide and replant. Cooler temps, often more rain and less top growth so the plants can put their energy into root growth. Best to do it 4 to 6 weeks before the ground freezes.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
