Hi all, I'm new here, but already a fan. I've been doing some reading, leading me on rabbit trails. I started on dirtdoctor.com and ended up wanting to know how to enhance mycorrhizal fungi in my compost. Sorry if I lost anyone, but I won't waste the time of those that know about it already. Anyway, I tried searching on how to support the fungi so it will in turn support my plants and thought the easiest way to introduce it to the garden would be through my compost. But I can't find anything that really says of home remedies to support the fungi. All I can find are commercial products like Thrive, whose key ingredient is the fungi. I was thinking, mushrooms = fungi....would mushroom compost have mycorrhizal fungi in it? If so I figured I would just throw a bag or two into my compost bins and mix it in well. I've read that mushroom compost can be a little salty for direct use around plants, but I figure if I blend it into my compost bins it should be fine. But I don't want to buy the stuff unless it will actually help with the fungi. Has anyone else worked with this, or read of this? Surely I'm not alone in this quest.
