I'm a newbie to having a yard and garden, so I'm sure this will be just one of many questions. A couple of months ago I bought and planted (well hubby planted) a pomegranate. I told him the spot would be fine because the other little tree (could be a crape myrtle, not sure) was most certainly dead. It had been nothing but dry sticks since last summer, so I thought neglect had killed it before we moved in. I tried watering it a few times, but nothing happened.
So these two tiny trees are 5.5 ft apart at the trunks. Now one to two weeks ago, I started noticing buds on the little "dead" tree.
So now what should I do? The little pomegranate is just over knee high and has only been in the ground since maybe late March. The other tree is chest high at the highest point and has probably been in the ground over a year.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure how I would know if one of them needs to be moved. What would I look for. I was just thinking that 5.5 feet would automatically be too close.
