I have a group of Wax Myrtles against the fence around my pool and there are hundreds of little shoots popping up from the roots. They were cut down in the winter with a weed wacker but have returned with vigor. How do I remove these in a manner so as not to harm the tree. I want to plant an understory of Clumping Wood ferns under these trees but the shoots are in the way.
All help is appreciated.
