I have source to purchase organic alfalfa cattle quality hay from up north. It come in 3 x 3 x 8' bales. It will come to our farm and I can load on your trailer. I am not trying to make money on this load (I don't want to loose any either). I want to get a load but spread my expense over 3 truck loads. There are 24 tons per load and your cost is about 50 dollars per bale. If you buy what is considered quality coastal hay you will pay $40 per bale delivered and they will throw in herbicides and other chemicals from fertilizers.

What is the cost per ton? From the info provided I can't figure out the cost. I currently pay $145 per ton for conventional alfalfa in large square bales. I would be interested in organic if the cost is not too much more.

I'd love to get some round bales of organic alfalfa but I'm near Austin, Texas. Are there any other farmers/ranchers buying it my direction that I can buy from?

What are you feeding - cows, horses, goats, etc
Bales are square 3 x 3 x8' about 1050 lb/bale.
How many do you need - we can split loads or how much can you haul?

This is a small homestead type set up. I'm trying to find hay before I get the animals.

Well, I will be feeding 3-5 goats (2 or 3 nubian does, and 1 or 2 pygmy or kinder bucks), possibly 2 dorper sheep (ewes), and 1 or 2 mini jersey cows. The soil here is very bad and about the only thing growing will be edible to the goats and that's about it.

I doubt I could take enough off your hands to make it worth it? But maybe I can network with some farmers/ranchers in my area. Probably 1 or 2 round bales will set me up for a long time. I'm the contact for the Austin Weston A Price Foundation so I can start contacting some grassfed farmers I know to see if they would be interested, if that's ok?

It was great. I believed it helped our conception rate, but don't know if we will do again. I am getting orchard grass- alfalfa mix (50/50) from MO. Guy has last years crop and sending 1/2 load down w/o shipping cost. debating about this vs organic alfalfa from NE. I will have organic (non-certified) bermuda from my hay man this year. I have agreed to do fertilizer and he will give me hay.

Thanks. With any luck, we won't need organic bermuda -- assuming our field does decently this year -- but we'd be interested in organic alfalfa, straight or as a mix, so I'll touch base with you later.
