What can I do to kill “plant pests” that over-winter underground in gardens ? For example the squash beetle killed all my pumpkin plants in 2009. I’m preparing my garden for the spring by removing weed, etc… I believe it is too early to apply beneficial nematodes in Dallas TX? PLEASE ANY SUGGESTIONS

The time to apply beneficial nematodes is when the earliest spring rains come. BN are most effective when the soil is very moist.
Other than that, just stay organic. Let the toads, lizards, geckos, and birds do their jobs. You can encourage birds with a birdbath, bird feeders, and bird houses in your garden.
