Should Pampas Grass be cut back after the winter or not? If so, how much should be cut off. I have 4 very large Pampas Grass clumps and the snow this year has really beat them down and the foliage is all brown. Thanks. Ann

This may be to late, but I cut mind back in late November or March or April, and I prune them down to about a foot to 2 feet, and then just let them grow.

We usually cut it in mid winter to get the best result. The blades are very sharp. So, we use gloves, long sleeve shirt while pruning.

Thank you for both of your answers. I think we will cut them back this year during the lat winter.
