Welcome to the amazing world of composting!
First of all don't get freaked out by what amazing or gross organisms you
see in an active composting pile. The real truth is that God created everything good that you see inside an active compost pile. They all are essential for the process of the chemistry, physics, and biology in the decomposition process.
After several weeks of composting, and active moisturizing and aeration, you will notice most of the "gross and disgusting" guys will move on. What is left in all mature compost is beneficial invisible aerobic microbes.
If you are lucky, your mature compost make have healthy earthworms in it, (if composted outside of course)...
Happy Gardening!

Hey Captain. It was good to see you in Cullman on Saturday. I hate I missed most of your lecture. I did learn a lot just in the informal discussions. I picked up something from Sis. Peggy about how to do cover crops in the fall. Bu the way, I have found a lot of things in my compost pile that I didn't put there, but just like Captain said, they will eventally go away. Captain, I am going to put a post on the Home brews thread about compost tea. I have a question for you.
