I bought a Pineapple Guava bush last spring. It has gorgeous blooms and now I am picking delicious fruit off of it. My question is will it be winter hearty for the Dallas area. It seems like it is probably a tropical plant. If it is not hearty, I plan on covering it when it gets cold to try and help it make it through the winter. Does anyone have any experience with this plant?
My pineapple guava bushes have turned into trees in the last 38-40 years, and have survived temps of 4 degrees here in Washington County. They were not newly planted when the very cold weather came so I do not know how they would withstand cold when newly planted.
