My potatoes are very happy and healthy. However, recently I am noticing some brown splotches on the lower part of some of the leaves. I am hoping it is the result of too much water but would like some ideas. I am attaching a photo below.

are the areas that are brown also very thin? Looks like there's been a pest sucking the juice out of the leaves to me.

Yes they are thin. Any idea of what kind of pest it could be?

Could be 4-line plant bug. They have bright red underbelly and suck the juice out of leaves enough that it makes the leaf wilt or makes it look like a fungal disease.

You are correct on the 4-line plant bug. I saw them on the folliage. I sparyed them with some clove insectacide and it seems to work pretty good. Thanks for your input. It's one of the few things that product seems to work on.

The other good thing is that the 4-line bug disappears when the weather turns hot.

We, too have spots on the leaves of our potatoes. See the pictures.

Is this the dreaded blight? or something less sinister?

All help would be greatly appreciated. This is our first season with Potatoes.
For reference, the varieties are Vivaldi, Dunluce and Maris Piper.

Thanks,
Pete
