My name is Tammy, I live in Dallas and I think I might have powdery mildew on my coreopsis. I'm not exactly sure, but that's what the leaves look like. I'm still learning the organic way, and would appreciate any tips on how to get rid of it. The plant is still blooming, but not as many blooms as usual. It seems this happened overnight!

Thanks.

Tammy

Can you describe what you're seeing or post an image? Also, take a very close look at the underside of the leave to see if you see any tiny spider mites.

Well, I've tried to post a picture, but I keep getting the message that the file is too big. The leaves on the plant seem to have faded to a lighter color green. Up close the leaves look kind of like whitish gray paint has been splattered. However, a few leaves have started to turn brown starting at the tip of the leaf. The back of the leaves seem to be clean. I don't really know what spider mites look like, but I'm not seeing anything.

I would make sure you get excellent drainage and lots of sun for these plants. Give them a good foliar spraying of Garrett Juice or Plant Wash or Bioform. Let the soil stay fairly dry.

I have the same looking problem with my phlox. Is the same treatment recommended?

Thanks,

yes. Let them dry between waterings, and try to water at the base of the plant, not on the leaves. Try not to have an automatic sprinkler hitting the plants.
