A friend has decided to turn her old unused dog run into a vegetable garden. I am helping and we will share the spoils. My question is "What is the best way to prepare the ground so that we can plant in April or May?" She (and I) do not use chemicals so none have been used on the area for at least 5 years. The grass is dead but there is a lot of grass. She says the soil is very nice (unlike my black clay) and we are sending off soil samples next week. This is in North Texas also.

Thanks!
