Are purple hull peas a determinate variety of (bush) southern peas in that they set one big crop of peas and then die off? I have planted twice this year and this is what seems to of happened.
I have an elderly aunt and uncle that plants a very large garden every year and they told us that pinto beans play out when it starts getting hot. Most info I have seen stated that they are a warm season plant. In another source if I read and understood correctly they being a bush bean are a determinate variety and only set one big crop. Just wondering if my purple hull are doing the same thing.

I used to stay with my Grandmother in the summer when I was a kid. We would pick purple hulls one time and spend the rest of the day shelling them. These are my favorite.
