Last year I had 2 beautiful "Rock Rose" bushes that produced hundres of seeds. I kept a baggie full of them (after I let them get totally dry, etc). Soaked a handful overnight and planted in one of the store bought seed starting kits. Had great luck with a couple of other vines (hyacinth bean) but nothing came up from these seeds. My Butterfly Bush plant I just stripped off the dried flowers. Couldn't tell if they were exactly seeds or not. Nothing came up from those either. Any suggestions.
Rock rose (this is a woody shrub in the mallow family) comes back by itself and spreads very easily. I have one in the back yard that I have to prune back every year. There is also one in the front, but that one is mowed around regularly, keeping the seedlings from spreading as far as the plant in the back garden does.
The plant only lives a few years, but it has so many seedlings that come back and grow up through the woody stems that it looks like it is the same plant growing all of the time.
