Has anyone tried making a raised vegetable garden with straw bales? I have and it worked quite well, but this summer we did have to replace a couple of the bales. chickadee2
hi am newbie here.. and i go by the name links03rjean.. i've never tried growing a straw bales...i usually plant tomatoes, eggplant, cabbage and etc...maybe i'll try planting straw bales next time.
Instead of using boards etc to raise the beds, we made a 16x4 interior bed with all the bales around the edge. They retained moisture and kept the garden cool in the summer (rather than concrete etc.)
