Here is a good site for finding plants that do well in the DFW area:

The Colombines do well, and if you have any sun, the Blue Mist Flower is great, and attracts lots of butterflies.

Three of my favorites are turk's cap, turk's cap and turk's cap. I also like Texas columbine, pigeon berry.
