hi ,i am first time poster have a question on compost we have a very large garden we do very well every on our plants we have access to lets say tons of silage from a large cattle operation it is old an has composted so much of coarse the cattle arent interested it looks abost like dirt does anyone know anything about how much of this is ok to use we have put some on
an tiller it in makes ground relly fluffy any advise thanks

i didny spell silage right am not sure of howto spell it but it is ground up corn stalks an other grain stalks after harvest they feed it to cattle

That should be excellent compost. If it smells sour or otherwise bad, it should be composted in a pile until it smells good again.

Don't till it in. Just use it on top of the soil. Fluffy tilled soil will become dead soil before it gets healthy again. Tilling disturbs all the soil's microbes and those are what gives the soil health.
