Does anyone know of a way to repell Snakes? Have seen 4 copperheads already this spring.

My best way is two cats. I'm not sure, but the roadrunners might be helping also.

One of the best way to keep Copperheads controlled (I doubt you can eliminate them completely) is to eliminate their habitat ie. leaf litter and/or brush. Keep the lawn area nearest your home mowed and well maintained. Everywhere else, watch where you step and put your hands.

One of my college profs used cats. He kept a dozen around for critter control and snakes were a big part of that. His ranch was in Arizona.

Thanks for the advice. Strange that you mentioned about the brush cause that is where I have found them while we were clearing some more of our land. Had a neibhor suggest that I put goats in to clear more of the underbrush. Said they could do it better and would be less work for us. But I was concerned because of the snakes. Maybe goats and cats might work?????

One word, Guineas! My neighbor saw my guineas running down the drive and was afraid they were going to run out in front of her, so she honked her horn. As she pulled even with my drive she saw that they were chasing a large black snake. Love it. They are excellent for snake, bugs, GRASSHOPPERS, etc. , and they don't tear up my plants like the chickens do.

Someone told me to eliminate them in the barn, where my chickens and ducks sleep at night, to put out golf balls. They swaller them thinking they are eggs and then, well, they are stuck with this golf ball inside them and it eventually kills them. I have a great barn cat and guineas, but there is still at least one "chicken snake" around there - I seen em!

I am definitely interested in any product that can repel copperheads. In that I live near a wooded area we have a lot of them. I hate snakes...we also have "coach whips" black racers that go after all the nesting birds and little rabbits.

Has anyone had luck with the cedar flakes? I like the guineas too, but they are a little noisy for some folks.

My dad used the cedar flakes. It didn't seem to deter the "coach whips".
I live in the country so we have a variety of snakes. Maybe I need a pet mongoose.
