I have a couple hundred spider lilies that quit blooming about 3 years ago. Every year they send up a beautiful canopy of leaves, but don't bloom anymore. I have grown some wisteria near by that shades them most of the day now, so is it lack of sunlight or is this an indication that I need to separate them and give them more room. I also have never fertilized them. Any comments are appreciated.
I suspect you just answered your own question. I have not had to thin the lilies yet in the bed where I planted them, and they get lots of sun, but the easy experiment is to dig up a few out of the bed and relocate them to a sunny area where you can spread them out a little and put some compost in with them.
