There are many kinds. The one that is promoted the most is called Floratam. It was jointly developed by the TAMU and the University of Florida (hence the name). If you are able to find different varieties in your area, talk to the proprietor about how the different varieties work in your specific area.
St Aug is sodded, not plugged. You could get some flats of it and cut them into quarters and sort of plug those around. As long as St Aug get weekly moisture and are mowed high, it will dominate all the other turf grasses.
